Miss Edith M Wignall taught at the school in the 1940's as a young graduate teacher, as did other women when the ranks of the male teaching staff were depleted by military service. Miss Wignall, pictured with Old Boys Ray Buckles and Past President Derek Carrier and Bill Kerr, is a Vice President of the Association. She taught Chemistry. Each year a party of her former
pupils visit her at her home near Preston  and have lunch out together and afternoon tea at her home.
